Steak and Peach Salad

We’re always looking for new ways to use our Saunders Brothers Farm Market products.  And with all that is going on these days, keeping it simple and healthy is key!

On today’s menu: steak and peach salad

One of our favorite dressings in our lineup is our Blue Cheese Balsamic Vinaigrette.

For the lovers of blue cheese, this light and fresh dressing is the perfect addition to any summer salad you prepare.  For those of you who are not blue cheese fans, don’t knock it until you try it. This vinaigrette is not overpowering and the balsamic vinegar balances out the flavor – you may be converted!

First I started with lettuce and greens picked from my garden. If you don’t have a garden, or greens aren’t in your repertoire, stop by your local farmers market to pick up fresh greens from one of the farmers in your area. Yummy!

Next stop, protein. Steak would be my top pick for this salad – it pairs well with the dressing and provides a strong base for the salad. Saunders Brothers Farm Market has many cuts of meat in our freezers. Can’t stop by? Stop by your local farmers market for a fresh cut to grill. Choose your favorite marinade and cook to your liking (medium rare, anyone?). Set aside your meat to rest while you prep the rest of your goodies!

Peaches add a sweetness to this salad that cannot be missed.  Stop by the Saunders Brothers Farm Market porch for your favorite variety - grilled or fresh, reach for that peach! I chose Loring for our salad. Yellow and happy, these fresh peaches added a punch of peachy tang. (We grilled our peaches for a beautiful, caramelized flavor.)

Now for all of the good stuff!  Create your salad with as many or as little toppings as you like.

We kept it simple - our salad contained:

  • Salad greens

  • Steak

  • Red onions

  • Walnuts

  • Blue cheese

  • Dried cranberries

  • Chives

  • Basil

Topped with the Blue Cheese Balsamic Vinaigrette, and voila! Our salad was complete! *chef’s kiss*
